Measurements of the shade sails are taken from the buckle to buckle along the nominal straight line of the sails. They are manufactured with a curved edge so that the tensioning can be applied evenly across the entire surface, if the sails were square pieces of fabric with no curved edges, there would be no way to apply even tension across the entire surface of the fabric. Please note the curvature will vary slightly between shapes and sizes.
