This process peels back the outer layer of stainless steel to increase the proportion of chromium on the surface. This type of process results in a smoother, shinier, and brighter surface finish, as well as enchanting the corrosion resistance of the stainless steel.

Although it is not completely rust-proof the alloy is more corrosion-resistant than other common stainless steels.
